Mary Greene is the “real deal”. She grew up on a horse-powered farm in the Blue Ridge Mountains and comes from a family line of ballad and shape-note singers who were also farmers, teachers, and experts in traditional foodways. Mary brings to her presentations the cast of mountain characters and musicians who have inhabited her world since birth.
Mary draws upon the rich heritage of her family and community informed by a Master’s Degree in Appalachian Studies. Whether it is a folksy and intimate gathering or a carefully researched presentation, Mary will provide a top notch experience.
Mary also documents regional folk traditions. She is passionate about sharing and educating the public about the rich culture of Appalachia.
